Writing a Blessing Message That Sounds Like You
The personalised message is the part people remember. Six short prompts to help you write one.
Lotus Blessing EditorialJune 24, 20263 min read
A blessing message does not need to be poetic. It needs to be specific. Specificity is what makes a line feel written for one person rather than for anyone.
Six prompts
- Name one concrete thing you hope changes for them.
- Name one thing about them you are grateful for.
- Mention a shared memory in a single sentence.
- Say what you would do for them if you could.
- Write the sentence you would say if you were not embarrassed.
- End with something they can carry forward.
Short and particular beats long and general, every time.
